| * 5:30 - Live annotated eurorack Tangerine Dream inspired cinematic synthwave, ARP-2600, Moog - Ethan James Music |
| * Description: This is a live cinematic synthwave electronic music performance inspired by later Tangerine Dream music, where I wanted to setup a more meditative environment and create a slow musical progression by interweaving layers with the Eurorack, providing bass from the Moog Grandmother, and melody from the ARP-2600. This is an entirely live and unrehearsed improvised performance, and I included annotations to show some of what I'm thinking about and also to demonstrate the different musical themes weaving in and out of the texture Since I'm a film composer by trade, this came out relatively cinematic and would work in certain movie score settings. This is a very simple setup to make a big sound. I hope this is educational for you as well, in terms of how I put these performances together. Hopefully this camera angle also helps you learn something! |
| * My review: The annotations are very good! Audio is music only. |

* How to Turn a Few Notes Into a 3 Minute Piece of Music
* Description: How do you turn a simple idea into a fully developed 3-minute piece of music? How can you take a few notes and develop the motif into a structured composition? It's a problem that many composers face so Guy Michelmore comes to the rescue with lots of suggestions for ways to develop your orchestral ideas into fully-fledged pieces of music. Using Spitfire Audio's BBC Symphony Orchestra library with Spitfire Originals string libraries he creates a complete orchestral piece of music in just over one hour.
* Download the full-length 70-minute version of this tutorial + the MIDI file + the Cubase project + the stereo mix!
* My review: Very beautiful music. Worth going back and taking more close notes on.
* His advice: | |
* "Give me a video and tell me to score it!"
